Description
Ren's Mask is...muted. There's an eerie and distinctly uncanny quality to their facial features that the Torrent seems utterly unconcerned with. While they dress sharply in nice suits when on business, this is somewhat at odds with an irreverently cavalier attitude and occasional uniform shifts for certain jobs. Walking with a stray dog's strut, Ren flaunts many social norms in favor of a more carefree and unburdened existence. Combining this with his nigh unreadable poker face, and the fixer almost inevitably puts most others on edge. Beneath this exterior their skin is marred with various tattoos of mystical and criminal significance.
Their Mien is...nebulous. With the form of a walking cosmic storm, Ren's body looms like a condensed black hole, wisps of stardust forming some features against his dark skin. Windows of light can be seen when he opens his mouth to speak, where his eyes should be, and even from open wounds when he's hurt, the viscous light spilling out from cuts and holes alike. Filigree circuitry is laced just beneath his skin with a dull, humming glow, not unlike veins. Tattoos in his Mask are revealed in the form of complex constellations within his Mien, each pinprick of ink a small star trapped beneath the skin.
The Unbound's Mantle is peculiar. His circuitry like veins occasionally spark to life with arcane runes, especially during times of pronounced emotion or exertion. Not unlike a live wire, a careless touch can often earn one the bitter bite of a particularly spiteful static shock, and even their own grasp can shock, small sparks falling from their fingertips like dying stars. The cold, inevitable dread of infinite space subtly suffuses his presence like ambient lighting; those within his personal space can feel a mild but inevitable pull, like a gravity well, causing a shiver to run up their spines from the brief but bleak sense of hopelessness.
Roleplaying Hooks
The Professional
Ren is a freelancer that does jobs for organized crime outfits ranging from acquisition to enforcing to security to blackmail to cleaning. These services aren't cheap but Ren is gradually building a budding reputation as an uncannily efficient asset. Celebrants of the Black Hand and Ashen Court are wise to the source of this competence, at least in part; a connection to each group and strange sorcery. Among circles in Chinatown the fixer has taken to the nickname Báihǔ.
The Warlock
The Torrent is a skilled duelist and powerful sorcerer, according to limited rumors. While preferring to fight in the Hedge, Ren is keen to accept and dish out challenges as they see fit. As the martial arm of Autumn Court, the arcanist is always happy to trade in knowledge, but his information never comes cheap, much like his illicit services. Related to this martial tendency, the Sprite also has a budding rapport with the Crimson Court, taking to an apprenticeship with their Queen since her first reign. He's since taken up various responsibilities tied to the security of the Freehold since the attacks by the Diviners began.
The Explorer
Ren is an experienced explorer of the Hedge and confident in their ability to traverse other, stranger dimensions as well. Though he does not typically offer to lead or guide others through the Hedge (chases are too much of a danger even on your own), it isn't unusual for him to offer help in other ways. In particular he is always eager for lost bits of lore or arcana concerning other realms, both the Hedge and those lesser known to Lost. This tendency has gotten him some experience in dealing with goblins merchants and navigating their markets with some amount of grace. It isn't uncommon for the Torrent to be seen at the markets bartering for assistance from hobgoblins in some shape or form week to week.
