Kerberos

From Dark City

Interactions with the Danse:
Many Gangrel act as enforcers, bodyguards, or hounds. Kerberos eschew their expected roles, and instead focus on dominating the political arena. They don’t tend to the top of the hierarchies in their respective cities; you won’t see many Kerberos Princes or Czars. But they tend to launch movements. Many take up roles as Senators, Primogen, or Councillors. They particularly shine in covenant leadership, where they intimidate and inspire their charges to compete. Kerberos favor the Carthian Movement because of their often brash dispositions, or the Circle of the Crone due to their affinity for older faiths, like the one that birthed them.

Clan: Gangrel

Nickname: Watchdogs, Children of Typhon

Bloodline Bane:

  • Echidna's Curse: Unlike other Kindred who can steel themselves for a while once their Beast has been prodded, the Kerberos is always vulnerable. A Kerberos doesn't enjoy the 30 day immunity to Aspect Conditions once it's been applied.

Bloodline Disciplines: Animalism, Majesty, Protean, Resilience

Bloodline Gift:

  • Heads of Kerberos: All members of the Kerberos bloodline automatically gain access to the Honing Devotion without cost.

Active NPC's

Bloodline Devotions:

Honing

The Beast of a Kerberos will not be denied it's proper respect. Their Beasts are the loudest when it comes to exerting their presence.

  • Cost: None
  • Dice Pool: None
  • Action Type: Reflexive
  • Duration: One Scene

When Lashing Out, you may choose which Discipline based on the Predatory Aura you are using: Protean(Monstrous), Majesty(Seductive), Resilience(Competitive), or Animalism(Any) and add it to your dice pool. In addition, rather than the usual +2, you gain your Blood Potency as a bonus any time you're pursuing your Beast's aspect for the scene you've used Predatory Aura.

  • XP Cost: None (Bloodline)

Cowing

The Beast of the Kerberos demands obedience.
Requires: Majesty 2

  • Cost: 1 Vitae
  • Dice Pool: none
  • Action Type: Reflexive
  • Duration: One Scene

When successfully applying the Predatory Aura, you can choose to forego the normal Condition afforded, and instead apply a variant of the Subservient Condition (see B&S, p. 306) that only applies to commands that would fit in with the Aspect in question.

This Devotion may not be used more than once on an individual target in a scene.

  • XP Cost: 2 Experience

Subtle Beast

Requires: Resilience 2

  • Cost: 1 Vitae
  • Dice Pool: none
  • Action Type: Reflexive
  • Duration: Instant

You have enough practice with your Beast to control its howls and turn them into whispers. When Lashing Out against other vampires or creatures with a pseudo-Beast, the target is not immediately aware that they are being the target of such an effect. They still retain their normal defense against Lashing Out attempts, but their Beast does not immediately alert them of the attempt. They might question their actions after the fact, especially if they were alone with the Kerberos at the time, but they are not mystically aware of it happening in the moment.

Drawback: Keeping the Beast on a leash prevents it from acting at full force. Lashing Out while using Subtle Beast imparts a -2 penalty to the roll. If Subtle Beast is used in conjunction with Fires of Hell, add a stacking -1 dice penalty for each target past the first.

  • XP Cost: 2 Experience

Fires of Hell

Requires: Majesty 2

  • Cost: 1 Vitae
  • Dice Pool: none
  • Action Type: Reflexive
  • Duration: Instant

Your character’s Beast spreads like a wildfire. Any time she lashes out, you may choose additional victims equal to her Blood Potency to feel the effects. They all must fight or flight against your successes rolled. Note that to use this with Striking, the catalyst action must be able to affect all desired victims.

  • XP Cost: 2 Experience

Striking

Requires: Resilience 2

  • Cost: 1 Vitae
  • Dice Pool: none
  • Action Type: Reflexive
  • Duration: Instant

Your character infects with her Beast through other actions beyond lashing out. By spending 1 Vitae, she can lash out reflexively, so long as she’s affecting the victim with something else simultaneously. Most commonly, this means slashing a victim with her claws while infecting them with the Beast. But it could mean using it while investigating them with Auspex, shooting them with a pistol, while entrancing them with Majesty, while feeding them her blood, while seductively touching them, feeding from them, or any other number of effects.

  • XP Cost: 2 Experience
