Not quite the life of a party but always close to it, Calliope van Marland is hard to miss in a crowd. Though she only moved to the city a few years ago, she’s a regular face at charity fundraisers and galas celebrating local artistic organizations. Her loves of gossip and telling stories earn her at least a few listeners at any given time. With her animated expressions and movements, every tale she tells feels fresh whether it’s the first or fiftieth time it’s been recounted.
When she’s not exchanging pleasantries with the high society of the city, she can be found tucked away in the corner of a coffee shop, pretending to nurse a warm drink while absorbing the atmosphere and the book in her hand in equal measures.
Appearance: Calliope’s personality is a lot bigger than she is, measuring at five and a half feet tall and rarely wearing heels taller than two inches. She has a slender build and prefers more modest clothing, but can be persuaded into something a little showy if the venue calls for it. Casual clothing tends towards capris and comfy cardigans. She has mid-length auburn hair, blue eyes, and a bright smile. When she gets excited, her words speed up and a soft Transatlantic accent becomes more apparent.

Encore, Encore!
When one has an eternity of time to fill, why not fill it with beautiful things? Calliope has a great appreciation for the arts, and is more than happy to be a patron to her favorites. She can be spotted most often in house seats at the NYC Ballet, but also loves most other forms of theatre and performance arts — opera is a close second to her fondness for ballet. She has her favorite art galleries too, of course. It doesn’t take too much convincing for her to try out a new venue.
Nose Stuck in a Book
Always looking to pick up a new story or practice her languages, Calliope can often be found wandering the shelves of one of New York’s libraries or book shops. Curious about what she’s reading? Need a recommendation? Perhaps we’ve run into each other a few times?
Once, Long Ago…
Though not completely new to her Requiem, Calliope is still learning the ins and outs of her covenant. She has found her role in the Circle of the Crone to be as entertaining to her as it is educational. If an Acolyte — or anyone, really — is in need of some inspiration, advice, or just an amusing story, she’s your girl.
